Economic Stimulus Package Includes E85 Pump Tax Credit
January 26, 2009
The U.S. House Ways and Means committee published the tax portions of the $825 billion economic stimulus package recently, which includes an alternative fuel pump tax credit that would allow marketers to receive a credit of up to 50% (capped at $50,000) to help pay for the costs of the appropriate infrastructure. The provision is estimated to cost $54 million over ten years.
According to the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition (NEVC), the average cost to add a new E85 Dispenser is $6,000, while replacing the entire pump and infrastructure averages $25,000.
