How Will Hurricane Fay Affect Ethanol Blended Fuels In The Southeast

August 18, 2008

With Hurricane Fay in site of the Florida Coast it is pertinent that Tank Owners are ready for the water. Wecleantanks.com urges our customers to routinely check gaskets, fittings, caps, grommets and any openings that are visible for possible leak areas. With the introduction of Ethanol in Florida the coming Hurricane could pose major problems for unprepared tank owners.

After the storm it is important to stick the tank with water paste prior to re-opening (if the tank was closed). If the tank remains open during the storm, stick the tank when possible for water. If the Overfill Containment has completely filled with water do not open the tank. You must remove the water first or it will drain into the tank.

If possible check multiple openings as the low area of the tank may be at the opposite end of where you're taking readings. If you are present during the storm watch for water runoff and to make certain water is not standing over the tank openings, in spill containment areas or worst of all, draining into the tank. If you detect Phase Separation or have any questions at all, please call WeCleanTanks.com @ 386-266-8100. We are more than happy to assist customers with getting back online in a timely manner.
